Participants of a Halloween parade in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan went all out with amazing costumes depicting themselves as iconic paintings.
Over 120,000 spectators watched in awe as 2,000 costumed participants marched the streets during Kawasaki’s 22nd annual Halloween parade on Sunday.
In the sea of the usual monsters and anime cosplay creations, a group of art students wearing the mesmerizing artwork get-ups definitely stood out.
Members of the group were reportedly students of renowned Japanese special effect makeup artist known as the Amazing Jiro.
Bringing some of the most famous art masterpieces in history to life, the group wore costumes featuring Vincent van Gogh’s “Self Portrait,” Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Edvard Munch’s “Scream,” Pablo Picasso’s “The Weeping Woman,” and Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.”
Each of them was styled from the waist up, with the use of makeup, masks, clothing, wigs, and accessories to mimic their chosen art piece. To complete the museum-ready look, they were all sporting golden frames with painted backgrounds.
The results are jaw-dropping costumes that themselves are masterpieces.
